Our Story
Matt and I's key verse since we were dating has been Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. We did not know how God was going to work in our marriage and lead us to where we are today.
We have always know that we wanted to have a family. We thought when the time was right we would get pregnant easily. Well God had a different plan. We have gone through many test and procedures to find out that having biological children is not in His plan at this time.
In the meantime God has placed adoption on both of our hearts. We met with a friend who has an organization that helps Christian couples with the adoption process. When we first met with her we were just exploring our options, not really sure what God was leading us to. God just kept bringing it back to our hearts. About a month ago we decided we were going to begin the process. So we began filling out the big stack of paperwork. I remember during this time thinking, we are never going to complete this.
Well again God stepped in and gave us two snow days where we were stuck at home. It was just what we needed to get the paperwork completed. So that next week we had it done and in the hands of J. She contacted us the end of that week giving us a list of things that we needed to work on(gather more paperwork, get fingerprints, physicals, background checks, etc.) to have for our fist home study visit. We also had to read books and articles on adoption to prepare us for what is ahead. Matt is not a reader so I read the books to him. It was a great experience for us to really discuss what we were getting ready to experience.
We had our first home study visit scheduled. So I spent a little time each night making sure the house was clean and ready for inspection. The day came, the house was clean, snack were made and J showed up. It was a time for us to go over the paperwork that we had already submitted, look at our home, and ask any questions that we had. All in all it was a great visit. J made it very relaxing and calmed our nerves right away.
After that visit we will have one more where she will meet with us individually and then together again before she is ready to get to work writing out our home study report. We have our second visit on Friday. We know that it will be just as good as the first one.
We are more than confident that we are following the plan that God has in store for us. We ask for each and every one who reads our blog will take time to pray for us as we travel this journey.
